What the Recent Deaths API returns
Each notice is a structured record of a published obituary or death notice.
- Full name
- Date of death when available
- Age or date of birth when available
- City, county, and state when available
- Funeral home or publisher
- Obituary URL
- Source attribution
- Discovery date
- Relatives named in the obituary, when the notice lists them
- Possible property matches in select states
Relatives are family members named in the obituary. Listing them does not determine legal heirship or succession rights. A possible property match is a research lead, not proof of ownership.
How fresh it is
Notices show in the portal and the API as they are published. An optional email summary is sent once a day. Daily feed monitoring is strongest for recent and newly published obituaries.
Delivery is a web portal, a REST API, and that optional once-a-day email summary.
Coverage
One subscription covers every county in a state. Pull the whole state or filter to a single county with county_slug, for example travis-county-tx.
Every county in all 50 states and DC is available. Notices are drawn from 17,565+ funeral-home and newspaper sources.
