ObituaryMonitor watches published obituaries for the people you care about, or the people your work depends on, and emails you when one may match.

Where we look

We check 17,565+ funeral homes and newspapers across the United States: 16,585 funeral-home websites and 980 newspaper obituary sources. Monitoring runs around the clock. You don't need to search again.

How it works, in four steps

1. You add a watch. A watch is one person: their first and last name, plus any details you know, such as where they lived, a date of birth, or the names of relatives.
2. We look for obituaries that fit. Each possible match gets a confidence score based on how many of your details line up.
3. We email you. Alerts go to the email address on your account. You choose instant alerts, a daily digest, or a weekly digest. By default we email you about matches scoring 90% or higher, and you can change that number.
4. You review it. Open the match, read the original obituary, and choose Confirm or Not a match.

What we don't do

• Alerts are sent by email only.
• We don't contact the person you're watching or their family.
• A match is a lead, not proof. Always read the original obituary before you act on it.
• ObituaryMonitor is not a consumer reporting agency. Don't use it for decisions covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
