Negative Search Certificates

A Negative Search Certificate ("Certificate of Diligent Search") documents that we found no obituary match for a person in the sources we monitored during the monitoring period. Firms use it to show a diligent search.

It doesn't certify that the person is alive. It only records that no matching obituary was found.

When you can create one

• The watch (or case) has no open or confirmed matches. Matches you dismissed as "Not a match" don't block it, and they may be listed in the certificate.
• You're on a paid plan.

Create a certificate for a watch

1. In the sidebar, select Watches and open the watch with Open details.
2. Open the watch's menu and select Export negative search certificate.
3. Download the PDF when it's ready.

Create a certificate for a case (Professional plans)

1. Open the case from Cases.
2. From the case menu, select Negative Search Certificate.
