Family extraction is included with Daily National Intelligence as standard. For each notice, we find the relatives named in the obituary. There's no extra charge and nothing to request.

In the portal: Family Explorer

Family Explorer filters with callouts on the date range, the state, county, and sort selectors, and the filter chips

  1. In the sidebar, select Family Explorer. The default view is the Last 7 days.
  2. Set a date range (callout 1).
  3. Choose a state, then a county if you want to narrow further, and the sort order (callout 2).
  4. Use the chips to filter (callout 3): All families, Property found, No property yet, Family identified, No family identified, or Pending.
  5. Select a person to see the family members named in the obituary.

Family Explorer shows who the obituary names. It isn't a legal determination of who inherits. Verify before you act.

By API

Family members arrive with your notices when they're ready.

  1. Pull notices with include_survivors=true (keep limit at 100 or less).
  2. If a notice's family members are still being found, check the survivors updates endpoint (GET …/survivors/updates, in the API Reference) for newly finished ones.
  3. Or set up family webhooks on Async Family Extraction, so we notify your system when family members are ready (family_extraction.ready) or when the obituary names none (family_extraction.none_found).

Troubleshooting

  • A notice says "payment required" or shows a token balance. Family extraction is included. Contact support and we'll fix your account.
  • No family listed. Some obituaries don't name relatives. The notice shows that none were found.
