Connect PracticePanther

Connecting PracticePanther lets you bring contacts into ObituaryMonitor as watches. Once the connection is on, a death-alert note can be written to the linked matter when we send the alert.

Before you start:

• You need a Professional plan and to be the ObituaryMonitor account owner.
• You need a PracticePanther login that's allowed to authorize connected apps.

Turn on the direct connection

The PracticePanther card shows Setup Pending until we enable it for your account. Contact support and ask us to turn on the direct PracticePanther connection. You can't turn that on yourself from the card.

Once the connection is on

1. In ObituaryMonitor, select Integrations in the sidebar.
2. On the Connections tab, open the PracticePanther card and sign in to PracticePanther.
3. Review the access request and select Allow (or Authorize).
4. You'll come back to ObituaryMonitor. The PracticePanther card shows Connected.

Bring people in as watches

1. On the Integrations dashboard, open Import.
2. Choose PracticePanther and select the contacts you want to monitor.
3. Import. Each person becomes a watch linked to its matter. Each watch uses one slot.

Importing the same matter twice can create a duplicate watch, so import each one once.

Prefer a file? Export from PracticePanther and upload it in Bulk import. We recognize PracticePanther exports automatically. A file import does not need the direct connection.

How write-back works

Death alerts in PracticePanther. After the connection is on, PracticePanther death alerts are a per-account switch (Integrations → Webhooks) and it is off by default. When you turn it on, we add a note to the linked matter at the moment we send you a death alert for a match at or above your match threshold. Confirming or dismissing the match later doesn't add a second note, and matches below your threshold aren't written back.

Once the connection is on, you can also add a note to a matter yourself from the Integrations dashboard, and use Send test note to check the connection.

Troubleshooting

• The card says Setup Pending, or there is no way to connect. Email support@obituarymonitor.com and we'll turn on the direct connection for your account.
• PracticePanther says you don't have permission. Ask your PracticePanther administrator to connect, or to give your login permission to authorize apps.
• Connected to the wrong PracticePanther account. Email support and we'll help you reconnect.
