Before you rely on results in production, we ask each customer to record an acceptable-use attestation.
Record your attestation
- In the sidebar, select Compliance.
- Check the Death Verification API status (callout 1). It shows No attestation on file yet until you record one.
- Read the acceptable-use terms further down the page.
- Check the box (callout 2). On behalf of your organization, you agree to the terms and confirm you have a permissible purpose for each verify query.
- Select Record Death Verification API attestation (callout 3).
What the terms cover
- Not a consumer report (FCRA). ObituaryMonitor isn't a consumer reporting agency, and API results aren't consumer reports. Don't use them, in whole or in part, to decide anyone's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other FCRA purpose.
- DPPA and GLBA. The page also covers the Driver's Privacy Protection Act and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Results come from published obituaries and public web sources, not motor-vehicle records or nonpublic financial information.
- Not proof of life.
not_foundmeans we didn't find a qualifying obituary in the sources we searched. It doesn't mean the person is alive. - Review before acting. Never treat
possible_matchas a confirmed death.
